Donations

Thank you for your interest in donating items to SPARE!

We take things that still have life in them — fabric, yarn, art supplies, paper, thread, beads, patterns, and all the other creative odds and ends that are too good to throw away. At SPARE, everything on our shelves is a donation. Nothing is bought wholesale. It all comes from people in the community who are ready to pass their supplies along so someone else can use them. Here’s what we take. Here’s what we can’t accept.

Ready to let them go? We’ll get them back into circulation.

The Donation Process

For most donations, you can simply bring them by the shop during store donation hours. The only exception is very large donations (multiple tubs or boxes), which we ask you to coordinate with us first.

WHEN:

Donations are accepted during our posted donation hours.
Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday: 10:00am - 4:00pm

WHERE:

Bring donations directly to SPARE at 324 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. in San Anselmo.

HOW IT WORKS: A staff member will look through your items with you so we can make sure everything is usable and fits what we’re able to take. Anything we can’t accept will be returned to you at that time. If you’d like a tax receipt, just ask — we’re happy to provide one.

Larger Donations? We’re happy to figure out a plan together. We consider large donations to be multiple large containers and items that will require assistance from SPARE staff. Examples are craft room cleanouts, car or truck loads of items, business partner donations, etc… If it isn’t something you can easily bring in with one or two trips to your car, it’s most likely a large donation. For these donations, please contact us using this form or calling us at 415-295-7026 during business hours.
